Dear Yuletide Writer (2019)

First of all HUGE Thanks to you Yuletide-person. You are already fantastic :D
General:
Things I like: character interactions, banter, friendship, family, SCIENCE!, diversity, adventure, teamwork, battle couples, team as family. I prefer gen but am cool with slash, femslash, het, poly, etc as long as that's not the main focus of the story.
Things I don't like: angst, excess embarrassment, the "I'm keeping secrets from you for your own protection" trope.
For Yuletide I usually ask to use the source material as a general ratings guide, it's just simpler that way.
All of these fandoms are something I would definitely squee over, so just have fun with it and I'll love whatever you come up with :)
A few of these are fandoms I've requested previously, so if you want you can check out those letters for other suggestions. Feel free to track me down on AO3 (also sinesofinsanity) for other ideas. I also occasionally post on fancake.dreamwidth.org if you're looking for a sense of other fics I've liked.
Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors:
Squirrel Girl and Ms Marvel being super-awesome superhero best friends!!! :) Hahaha! Anything with these characters would be fantastic. Maybe they're throwing Tippy-Toe a birthday party! Or they show up at America's garage and try to convince her to teach them to ride a motorcycle? Or they have to fight off a supervillain that attacks Kamala's school for some reason so there are secret identity shenanigans in there? Or aliens invade who look suspiciously like squirrels? Or they just have an afternoon making colourful cupcakes? Any sort of silly-fun best friends adventure :D
I am a *huge* fan of Squirrel Girl. She is just so much fun! The Ryan North comics make a point of her using a creative and peaceful means of solving problems, rather than just beating up whoever the villain of the week is (unless it's Doctor Doom, that dude is not very reason-with-able). This translates into Marvel Rising as well with SG and Ms M trying to find a better solution to fighting Inferno. I love the friendship between the two of them as well (they call each other SBBFFs: Super Best Friends Forever, that is so dorky it's great!) and how excited they both are to be superheros. The Marvel Rising comic has a bit where both of them try very ineffectually to hide their secret identities and then just shrug and tell each other. I like to think that's basically how it happened in the cartoon as well. These two have one of the best friendships in comics. Check out the youtube series "Kamala Khanfidential", esp the ones for Ms Marvel (Kamala gets nervous so Doreen takes over telling her friend how awesome she is) and for Tippy Toe (because OF COURSE Tippy is a superhero!). Note, I did request this one last year, so check out that request too. It's still valid.
The Incredibles:Helen going full Mom-mode on Karen. Something happens, either in a super-hero capacity or a real life capacity (I would prefer real life, but am open to either, or both!) and Karen needs help. Luckily, Helen's secondary superpower is MOM.
Any character and their area of expertise. I love clever people being super excited about things. Show me Natalie designing airplanes, collaborating on new designs or building an engine in a friend's backyard. Does she test the new glider designs herself? Does she improve upon the hang-glider or stick with powered vehicles? Does she get so caught up in explaining a new design she accidentally talks herself into being the first woman invited to an Engineering conference? Isabella and Suhail shocking the pants off the Philosopher's Colloquium. Jake getting Natalie's input on a submarine design and then taking it out to study deep sea creatures much to the chagrin of his worried mother. I'm looking for adventures in science with new discoveries and rewarding work.
This is another one I've requested previously. I love the exploration and discovery aspect of these books, how important scientific curiosity and collaboration is to all the characters and the adventure, while certainly fun, is secondary to everything that can be learned. I'm looking for them to be rewarded for their efforts. A chance for them to either discover something new or use their knowledge to benefit their world.
Dark Matter
I would love a heist, but anything with the core group together would be awesome. I'm a particular fan of Three so having him there is a definite plus, but if you'd rather have Five and Android doing each other's hair, or Two and Nyx infiltrating a high security vault, or Six and Five teaching Android a new board game, I'm happy with any of it. Stick two or three of these characters in a room together and see what happens. Again, my ideal would be a heist: stick up a bank, knock over an arms dealer, or rob an art gallery. They don't even have to really get away with it ;)
The last of the repeat requests, check out last year's letter for more ideas. This is a Canadian Sci-fi cancelled far too soon. This one was so fun to watch just for the interactions between the characters. They grew so well together throughout the show, even as other characters came and went, and I was so upset that we never got a good ending to everything Four was going through. I'm looking for some team fun, nothing too serious, although if you'd like to build on the corporate war by invading a corporate holding and tearing it down, go for it (Three can shoot some stuff, that'll make him happy). I loved that so much of this show was trope-y or sci-fi cliches we've seen a million times, but they were done with such honestly and love for the genre that it felt new.
Love Death + Robots: Suits
Anything in this world. How did these characters get here? Was moving to the colony planet always their plan? Were any of them born there? Hank makes a reference to Beth's mom being angry, what is THAT story? Did Beth's mom not want them to leave, or not want them to get married? What's Mel's story? Does she have a wife at home watching the screens as well? Was she one of the first settlers, slowly punching back against the bugs and watching the once empty dome fill up with families? What was the dome like when the first settlers arrived? Do they ever get to visit the other domes? Is there an annual fair or even where ships arrive to pick up crops for sale and drop off supplies? Tell me more about this world.
The world-building in this short is so neat, and so ripe for further stories. I suggested mostly backstory stuff, but a story set post-cannon would be super cool as well. How do the settlers rebuild after the attack in the short? Was that the biggest bug they've ever seen? Do they keep getting bigger? Do they contact another dome only to find that they weren't as successful? Does the company back on Earth send a representative to investigate these farmers reports because *of course* the pest problem can't be as bad as all that? Is there an annual get-together with some other towns/domes where they swap stories only for Mel's stories to get crazier and crazier (as she competes with her other-dome counterpart who's name is Chel or Nel or something haha!)

Feel free to include the rest of the Incredibles (just don't ship any of them with Karen please) as much or as little as you like. Optional questions to answer: Who is Karen? What is her backstory? How to the Incredi-kids react to the other Newbie Superheros?
I love the family aspect of The Incredibles movies, and that they are always stronger as a family. I'm looking for Karen to get a a piece of that. Basically I'm someone who lives away from her family for most of the year, so am a sucker for happy family stories. Have Violet and Dash torment some of Voyd's bullies for her, or have Helen invite Karen for super-hero training that turns into an invite to family dinner. Anything feel-good. For Voyd's backstory there was a story on Tumblr that imagined her as trans (here), this is super cool, and I do love it, but is in no way necessary if you'd rather tell a different story. All I ask is that if you decide to ship Voyd with anybody, make them an OC.
